As I promised you on my last post about free blogging tutorial, here is my review of Mark Joyner’s free (up until this writing) blogging training.

First, let me clarify here about the word “free” here. People get used to perceive that “free” is related to something crappy, useless and having no or low quality on it. But if it comes from companies that know exactly the power of leverage, creating a powerful high quality product, even if it is for free, is a must. And Mark’s company is one of them. Mark Joyner is even being considered as the pioneer in providing valuable high quality products, be it free or for certain price. Millions of people are already enjoying the powerful free daily praxis from his Simpleology site.

Second, I’m not directly affiliated with Mark Joyner. I mean that apart of my admiration on him and having been in his training course, I don’t get anything at all from him by writing this review (no affiliaite link whatsoever).

You’ve convinced that infopreneuring can be an option of getting steady income from the internet. You’ve also been told that it’s easy to do. But then your nerve shocked knowing that there are lots of competitions out there. How could you stay out out of the crowd? Write something with no or less competitions!

I have in one of my bookshelves a book titled “Let’s Get Divorced!”. Ever think about writing the similar thing? Whatever it is, bear in mind that your goal in writing infoproduct, books or articles, is to captivate your readers attention.

So far you probably haven’t heard anything you didn’t already know. What YOU are likely to be struggling with is the process of actually writing your infoproduct. Sure, you can come up with the content – but how do you really grab those readers? How do you keep their attention all the way through? And most importantly, how do you make them want to come back for more?

Let’s assume that you understand the basics of constructing and editing an article or a book(it has a beginning, middle, and an end and you know how to check the grammar and spelling.) Most of us can manage that. But if you’re not content with simply “getting something out there” – if you want to WIN readers – then you need to start thinking about what they want to know, rather than what you want to tell them.

Put your readers first – every time. Give them what they want, and they’ll be queuing up to read anything you produce. Give them something bland (or worse, blatantly self-serving) and they’ll blast by you so fast you’ll be spinning in the back draft.

The following four steps will give you a blueprint for writing articles that captivate your readers – whatever the topic.

== 1. Find Out What Your Readers Really Want ==

Sometimes you’ll know what they want because you’re an expert in the field, and understand the problems. If you don’t know the subject area well, you’ll have to do more research. Look for forums on your topic and see what people are discussing. What are the problems that need solving? Can you provide an answer? (”If they have a headache, give them an aspirin.”)

== 2. Start With An Attention-Grabber ==

Spend time working on your opening. Try to avoid trite questions like “Have you ever wondered why so many people find it difficult to lose weight?” Firstly, it’s dull. Secondly, it’s not targeting the person reading the article – what do they care about the difficulties “many people” have with losing weight? They only care about THEIR weight problem!

Try to come up with an opening paragraph that gives the reader that warm “Hey, this is about me!” feeling right away. Better still; try to generate a rush of excitement – “This could be the answer I’ve been looking for…”

Example: “The diet gurus make it all sound so easy: to lose weight, all you have to do is expend more energy than you take in. Huh! If it were that simple, the “Big People” stores would be out of business in a heartbeat. Luckily for those of us who are tired of diets, gyms and dull group meetings, there is a back-to-basics way to tackle this. A way that won’t cost you a fortune or leave you feeling deprived.”

== 3. Write As You Speak… Then Edit! ==

The sample opening above also illustrates the importance of the tone you use in your article. You need ‘meat’ in each article, of course, to make it worth reading – but make sure it’s not indigestible!

You’re better off writing your article in a natural, relaxed style that’s akin to normal conversation. It doesn’t matter if the first draft is a little too informal – you can fix that when you edit. Naturally you don’t want to irritate your readers with a too-breezy style, but too-formal is worse. Readers may want facts, tips, and strategies, but they hope to be entertained, too! Let your personality shine through.

== 4. End On A High ==

What’s one of the biggest problems with most articles? They fizzle out! Writers often don’t know how to end on an upbeat note. They either just stop dead or they come up with a trite ending like: “So what are you waiting for? Get started today!”

The beginning and the end of your article are the two parts that make the biggest impression. Start by creating a feeling of anticipation… and leave them feeling satisfied (or excited) when you finish.

If you are offering advice to help them solve a problem (like obesity) gives your readers a reason to feel optimistic and good about them. Don’t make rash promises… but do offer hope. If you are giving hints on marketing or business, sum up the benefits of acting on your tips. You can also experiment with using a pithy/humorous quote, or giving readers a specific action to get them started. Be creative – and don’t rush it.

Here’s a final tip: create an article-writing cheat-sheet for yourself. Divide it into beginnings/middles/ends and add more useful strategies as you think of them. (For example, using the tips in this article, you might write: ENDINGS – end on a high, offer hope, use funny quote, suggest action to get started.)

Do this, and you’ll be steadily cranking out articles that everyone wants to publish!

Every day millions of people plug into the internet looking for quality information. They’re looking for content. One Page Websites

There’s a lot of talk in the infopreneur world about the difference between a website with a dozen pages or more and a one page website geared toward selling a particular product. I’ll be discussing the pro’s and con’s of each type of site, and hopefully clarifying some of the current issues.

Portal Websites for Service Professionals

Most professionals I speak with have sites that talk about their services, how they help their clients, and the results they produce. Some of the better sites I’ve seen have articles, information, and audio-content free for visitors to download.

The goal of these multipage sites is, theoretically, to begin developing a relationship with the visitor. But rarely does this happen. Usually visitors look around and click away, forgetting all about you. That’s not the worst-case scenario, of course, because at least your site was seen. Worse than that, and far more common, is never being found at all.

Usually sites fail because visitors don’t know what to do next. The content is good enough, but there’s no clear action. Visitors who are only given the option to “call for a complimentary consultation” generally choose to leave rather than commit to a personal call.

The solution is to give your visitor an option to leave their email address, so you can continue following up. This optional sign-up box, or opt-in box, is a key way for service professionals to leverage their websites more effectively.

One Page Websites

These sites are designed to lead the visitor to take one action. Usually the action is to buy to product being sold—an ebook, audio set, membership, seminar or the like. These often read like sales pages, but because they’re so clear about the next action necessary, they can be very effective.

Well written websites are also very attractive to search engines, and can more easily be advertised through pay-per-click. For example, “Visit my portal website and see what I do as dog breeder!” is not as enticing a headline on Google AdWords as “The 7 Keys to Finding the Perfect Puppy!”

One page websites need to have extremely well-written pages to sell the product, because content is scarce. The promises on the page are what sell the product, much like a typical advertisement. There are no demonstrations of the product’s efficacy, just a guarantee that if you use the product as specified it should create results for you.

Hence, relationship building is not a focus of this type of website. For service professionals, this can be a challenge. We distinguish ourselves through greater connection with our prospects and clients. There are thousands of relationship coaches—ultimately a prospect will choose one based on the personal connection and trust level that has been established.

One page sites are built to sell a product, and get people into our marketing funnels. Over time, if our information is perceived as consistently great, a client may continue their journey with us all the way.

To review the pro’s and con’s of one page websites:

1) Clear, and action-oriented. Visitors know what’s expected and will choose to either buy or pass.

2) Easier to advertise on search engines, pay-per-click, and off-line venues.

3) The outcome is a sale—you make money by offering one product.

4) Low content. The letter makes the sale—you don’t.

5) Some visitors may be turned off by the “salesy” nature of the site.

6) These sites are a poor vehicle for developing relationships.

So, you’ve made and maintain your blog. It adds up to hundreds of million blogs already there on blogosphere. Yes, every day millions of people start blogging. Indeed, the best estimates show that a new blog is created every single second of every day. As if this weren’t enough extra material being added to the Internet, there are of course millions of blogs already in existence. There is a vast amount of new information being added to the Internet every minute of every day.

Many people have been told that blogging helps increase your visibility on the Internet. That’s true enough, but if you are in business at what cost?

Let’s assume your time costs $100 an hour and that you spend a total of two hours a week adding to your blog. That’s $200 a week or $10,400 a year. That’s the cost of blogging to your business. You really should calculate the amount of time and its value to your business.

Once you’ve found out how much blogging is costing your business, you need to consider how much money it is actually making. How many people bought items or services from you as a direct result of your blog? If you don’t know, you need to add tracking codes to your blog links to ensure you can work this out.

Also, add up all the advertising income or affiliate income you’ve generated via your blog. Then look at the total. If it is less than the cost, you’re wasting time and losing money by blogging. Don’t let the fashion for blogging overcome traditional business requirements of profitability. For many people blogging is actually draining their profits, but they are unaware of this because they are not measuring their blog.

Ensure you measure your blog using tracking codes so you can check the real value of your blogging efforts. To do otherwise could seriously affect the profitability of your business.

True enough, blogs can raise your visibility on the Internet and can help boost search engine rankings. But being top of the search results for a particular keyword is of no value to you in business unless being top of the page actually translates into sales. Far too many people chase search engine ranking at the expense of chasing customers.

If you are using a blog to gain search engine ranking, but have not measured the income generated as a result, you could be wasting your time by writing your blog. As ever in business, measurement is essential if you are to do your best. So don’t blog hopefully; measure its real impact.
