You’ve known it already that unique articles count in search engine ranking. Higher search engine ranking guarantees you higher search engine traffic. And I believe you agree that traffic is vital for your internet business and infopreneuring success. But how exactly you write such unique articles? Here are steps you can follow:

1. Expand Your Thinking
Reduce your subject to a single core word and then brainstorm around it. For example, if you’re trying to write about “Study Skills”, expand your thinking to “School”. Now jot down everything that comes to mind when you think about School, and when you run out of ideas start asking yourself open questions around the subject and noting your answers.

Examples:

What did I enjoy about school?
What scared me?
What did I wish I’d known from Day 1?

This will help you get back into the mindset of someone struggling with school issues of all kinds and you’ll start to get a feel for their concerns and worries.

2. Get Back to Your Initial Focus
Once you’ve started to understand the general feelings of your readers, allow your mind to focus back on your original topic of Study Skills. From your new perspective, what questions would you ask? What would you want to know? Is this really a “Studying” issue or is it more about Time Management or being able to work without distractions or being paralyzed by the fear of not doing well?

3. Stay in The Mindset of Your Reader
Write each question on a separate sheet of paper; don’t stop until you have at least ten and preferably more. Stay in the mindset of your readers until you feel you’ve asked every major question that concerns them.

4. Take a Step Back
Put your pile of question aside for a few hours, overnight if possible. Don’t consciously think about them; just go about your day as usual. Give your subconscious time to process them without any further prompting from you. If new questions come to mind jot them down somewhere safe and then forget about them.

5. Bypass Your Internal Editor
When you’re ready, sit down with your pages of questions and simply start to answer them. Writing your answers by hand can give you access to ideas that might be missed if you type them. Don’t edit yourself at this stage. Using Speech to Text software or a digital recorder can also be helpful in bypassing the internal editor.

Imagine someone sitting in front of you asking for advice and just talk to them. Keep your tone natural and conversational and stay with the question-and-answer format.

6. Edit Lightly

Trust your first instincts. Proof-read and correct any obvious errors, but don’t do any major editing until your piece has had time to “sit” for a while. Again, leaving it overnight will give you a fresh perspective the next time you look at it, but even if your deadline doesn’t allow for that it’s important to give yourself a break from it.

When you’re pushed for time, writing several articles at one sitting can create enough change of focus to make you “forget” the one you’ve just written.

7. Polish It Up
Short articles are unlikely to need major editing if you’ve written them as described here. They will flow easily and naturally already and having each Q & A on a separate sheet makes it easier to select only the ones you want. Your job now is to put them in a reasonably logical sequence and make sure they’re understandable and that the reader is led smoothly from one question and answer to the next.

8. Top and Tail It
Write a brief introductory paragraph as a “teaser” for the main article. Many article directories now put the first paragraph of each piece into RSS feeds which are picked up by other websites, so you’ll want to make sure that your two or three major keywords appear at least once in that first paragraph.

Write another short paragraph to summarize the major points of the article and provide some ideas for the reader to explore the subject further. Don’t of course forget your own resource box at the end of the article.

9. Submit It

You don’t think that you have an infoproduct to offer, do you? What if I tell you that you have at least one infoproduct to offer? What about yourself? Haven’t you heard about a guy who open a bookstore selling nothing but one titled books talking about himself living in his county with his beloved mother?

Everyone has life experience, training, and skills that others don’t have. Everyone knows something that others want to know, or can do something that others want to learn. That’s how I know you have an InfoProduct inside you, everyone does. Your first assignment is to decide which of your many gifts you are going to offer to the world!

Does that mean you have to be able to write a book? No. Not necessarily. I’m talking about what is known as USP…Unique Selling Position. Your USP might be that you have detailed knowledge about someone else’s product that you are selling as an affiliate. It could be that humorous way you present the information you have collected on some subject of interest, or the fact that you offer the best customer service available for the service you offer. You may offer the same products that others are also selling, but find your own unique market for them.

But whatever you decide to use for your information product, your USP, you need to find one. If you were to research the online marketers who are honestly making the money they claim to be earning online, you would discover that they all have a USP. Your USP IS your product, however you package and deliver it.

You may, of course, actually write a book, eBook, or training course and sell it. Many are making good money doing just that. The list of helpful software and online publishers is growing every day. But even if you write your own product or design your own software, you will still need a well-thought-out USP to stand out in the crowd. Problem is juice of life. That’s what our parents often reminds us. If you don’t want to have a problem, don’t live a life!

But, many times we just caught ourselves saying that there could be no other solution to a problem. Many times we felt stumped knowing that the problem laying before us is one we can not solve. No leads. No options. No solution.

Did it feel like you had exhausted all possible options and yet are still before the mountain – large, unconquerable, and impregnable? When encountering such enormous problems, you may feel like you’re hammering against a steel mountain. The pressure of having to solve such a problem may be overwhelming.

But rejoice! There might be some hope yet!

With some creative problem-solving techniques you may be able to look at your problem in a different light. And that light might just be the end of the tunnel that leads to possible solutions.

First of all, in the light of creative problem-solving, you must be open-minded to the fact that there may be more than just one solution to the problem. And, you must be open to the fact that there may be solutions to problems you thought were unsolvable.

Now, with this optimistic mindset, you can try to be a little bit more creative in solving your problems.

Number one; maybe the reason you cannot solve your problems is that you have not really taken a hard look at what the problem is. Here, trying to understanding the problem and having a concrete understanding of its workings is integral solving the problem. If you know how it works, what the problem is, then you have a better foundation towards solving the problem.

Not trying to make the simple statement of what problem is. Try to identify the participating entities and what their relationships with one another are. Take note of the things you stand to gain any stand to lose from the current problem. Now you have a simple statement of what the problem is.

Number two; try to take note of all of the constraints and assumptions you have the words of problem. Sometimes it is these assumptions that obstruct our view of possible solutions. you have to identify which assumptions are valid, in which assumptions need to be addressed.

Number three; try to solve the problem by parts. Solve it going from general view towards the more detailed parts of the problem. This is called the top-down approach. Write down the question, and then come up with a one-sentence solution to that from them. The solution
should be a general statement of what will solve the problem. From here you can develop the solution further, and increase its complexity little by little.

Number four; although it helps to have critical thinking aboard as you solve a problem, you must also keep a creative, analytical voice at the back of our head. When someone comes up with a prospective solution, tried to think how you could make that solution work. Try to be creative. At the same time, look for chinks in the armor of that solution.

Number five; it pays to remember that there may be more than just one solution being developed at one time. Try to keep track of all the solutions and their developments. Remember, there may be more than just one solution to the problem.

Number six; remember that old adage,” two heads are better than one.” That one is truer than it sounds. Always be open to new ideas. You can only benefit from listening to all the ideas each person has. This is especially true when the person we’re talking to has had experience solving problems similar to yours.

You don’t have to be a gung-ho, solo hero to solve the problem. If you can organize collective thought on the subject, it would be much better.

Number seven; be patient. As long as you persevere, there is always a chance that a solution will present itself. Remember that no one was able to create an invention the first time around.

Creative thinking exercises can also help you in our quest be a more creative problems solver.

Here is one example.

Take a piece of paper and write any word that comes to mind at the center. Now look at that word then write the first two words that come to your mind. This can go on until you can build a tree of related words. This helps you build analogical skills, and fortify your creative processes.

So, next time you see a problem you think you can not solve, think again. The solution might just be staring you right in the face. All it takes is just a little creative thinking, some planning, and a some hard work.

Now that everything is set-up there’s the small matter of marketing your new info-product. How does one sum up info-product marketing strategies in one paragraph. It’s just not possible, but again this is critical to your success. I know, I know, the only reason youre writing articles is to increase your sales, and I just told you not to sell. Dont fret – theres a way to successfully sell your company within your article without submitting a blatant sales letter.

Hollywood producers incorporate products into their movies. Would you pay to see a movie about the features and benefits of Coca-Cola? Probably not. Would you watch a movie with Tom Cruise chasing bad guys? A lot of people will.

No one complains when he drinks a Coke while contemplating his next move. No one minds when screeches past a Coca Cola truck during the high-speed chase. And at the end, when gets the girl while standing in front of a Coca-Cola display, does that bother you? No, of course not, because none of those things took away from the plot of the movie. You must follow the rules and guidelines listed by each newsletter, article site and publisher on your list. The formatting of your article can have a tremendous impact on whether or not it gets published. Each publisher has different requirements, so read the guidelines and submit accordingly.

At Article Marketer, we submit articles to a wide variety of article repositories, newsletter editors and email distribution groups for authors around the world. Weve made hundreds of thousands of successful article submissions, but before we could launch our service, we had to evaluate the submission criteria of each publisher, repository and article site on our long distribution list. Most sites dont want HTML. Others allow an anchor tag, but no formatting tags. Some publishers want articles with 60 character lines, with a hard break at the end of each line. Others will reject an article with 60 character lines, preferring automatic word wrap. Others want 65 character lines. One wants an 80 character line.

Some dont want your copyright and personal information at the top of the article. They also dont want you to repeat the article title or your byline in the article body. Others require it there.

Keep in mind that the first few lines of an article (following the headline) are key to capturing a readers attention. Depending on the submission site, theyll format your article with copyright and reprint rights, without squandering the “prime real estate” on copyright, reprint rules, and other stuff. If a reader doesnt get pulled into your article, your resource box cant deliver traffic to you. Then whats the point?

~A Powerful Call to Action~

Every article should end with a distinct and powerful call to action. Ive seen authors who try to cram every site they know into their resource box. This is a waste of time, and it confuses the reader.

Imagine if youre reading an article about how to whiten your teeth. The article is well written and you start thinking to yourself “Hey, this author knows his stuff!”. When you get to the end and you see a link to whiter teeth dot com, youll probably visit. However, if the whiter teeth link is stacked on top of clean fuel dot com and marketing stuff dot com, a confused reader will not click at all. Talk directly to your qualified audience about your topic and send them to a specific site, then watch as your sales go up.

Focusing your call to action will improve your “newsletter-reader-to-qualified-visitor” conversion ratio.

~Its An Article, Not a Letter~

Many authors make the mistake of thinking of their article as a personal missive to the reader. A personal voice is terrific, just remember that youre writing an article, not a letter to a friend. Articles in Time Magazine never end with:

While it is true that some authors will sign off with a trademark tagline, that tagline is incorporated into their article, and its never followed by a signature. Besides that, a signature isnt a powerful way to close your article. Use a powerful call to action.

~Dont Change the Title and Resubmit~ If theres one thing that an editor hates more than anything, its to get the same article multiple times. I know that there are people telling you to resubmit your articles with new titles, because the headline is important. While I dont deny the importance of a good headline, just putting a new headline on an old article is a really bad idea.

Christopher Knight at http://www.ezinearticles.com tells me that the surest way for an author to get penalized is to submit the same article multiple times with different titles.

If you want to try different titles, also rework the article. Theres no reason you cant write several articles on the same topic. Just make each unique. The more articles you write in your subject area, the more you are seen as an expert in that area.

Writing multiple unique articles in a given subject will improve both your “article-submitted-to-published” and your “newsletter-reader-to-qualified-visitor” ratios.

~Use Pre-Written Articles to Your Advantage~

There are many places that will give you articles to publish as your own. While publishing this content on your own website is perfectly fine, submitting it to editors and publishers all around the net is a waste of time.

Think of it like the hoaxes that are passed around the net. How many times did you get the one about Bill Gates paying a nickel for each email? How long after that did you tire of receiving it? And how long after that did you start getting really annoyed at receiving it? Editors get a lot of articles – and theyve seen the free reprint articles more than theyd care to remember.

If you want to submit these articles to editors, you can, but you need to know a trick. Use them as a foundation for your own work. Add your own personal spin to each one. Change it around, add your own personal flair, make it your own. Incorporate your insight and your expertise. Then it will truly be your article.

~Use a Spell Checker~

If I had a nickle for every time a authr maked a grimmatical or speeling error, I could retire. Every word processor has a spell checker (mine just went crazy after that last sentence!) and if English isnt your primary language, have it reviewed by a native English speaker. Youre trying to establish credibility, and using “your” instead of “youre” or “there” instead of “theyre” blows your whole image.

Using a spell checker and having someone proofread your work will improve your “article-submitted-to-published” ratio.

~Address the Promise of the Title~

If your title is, “How to Bake Cookies” then a reader had better have the basics down at the end of your article. No, you dont have to turn her into the next Mrs. Fields, (after all, its just an article, not a graduate study program) but a reader should be able to finish your article with a decent approach to the baking of a cookie. Shell know about cooking times and required utensils and where to find recipes, or whatever else goes into the basics of cookie baking. Youre the expert, give her what she needs based on your title.

~Conclusion~

Every article should end with a strong conclusion, one that leads to your resource box. Your article is being reviewed by real people, who have real standards for publishing. If you follow the tips in this article, youll get better results from your article marketing campaign, you will get your article approved at most article sites and find it published in the larger ezines.

So. There you are. When you want to start a business, you should start by offering something everybody wants because they need it.

Give It To Them

Why not offer information then? Give them what they want. But what information, you may ask? Oh! That’s an easy one, so I’ll answer it right away.

You offer what you know! That’s right, your knowledge and know-how. Surely, you have mastered something that you love doing … and can’t stop talking about.

That’s what you offer your Web visitors. Yes, you need a Web site to start a business on the Web. That’s the easy part! The hard part is identifying what you should be sharing with people. You already know what it is. You just have not yet recognized how valuable it is to others.

Sell Nothing … But Visibility!

If you limit yourself to giving away helpful information … how can your earn an income? You’re not selling anything! I guess I owe you an explanation here.

People are curious or in need of helpful information. They will usually find your Web site by using keywords and a search engine. They read what you have to say. When you speak (write) enthusiastically about your favorite subject, you immediatly communicate your enthusiasm. Your enthusiasm is catchy. The information you are parting with is useful, helpful. You make sure of that.

With time, as you offer even more helpful information on your Web site, a growing number of people will visit your site. That is called “traffic”.

In other words, you give away information. It attracts people. You help them solve a problem, or fill a need for information. Once you have a steady flow of traffic flocking to your Web site … you sell the traffic! That is, you sell the high visibility an advertiser will enjoy by advertising on your Web site. The more traffic goes through your Web site, the more your advertiser will be likely to get the “click” and a sale.

Your Cost Will Be Time

You will have noticed that it will take “a certain amount of time” before you build up the kind of traffic that will attract advertisers, or that will enable you to sell someone else’s product as an affiliate. That time will be your “major” cost of doing business.

I know, I hear you! What about the Web hosting and the site building. Heh! That is only going to cost you about one dollar per day! Yup! A buck a day. No kidding, that’s what I pay to have my Web site up and running.

The rest of the costs is almost all “my time”. I run my Web business on less than one thousand USD per year! Honest!

I get away with it because I am an “infopreneur”! I give away my know-how as a business planning adviser … and I sell others’ products and services, as an affiliate. By helping people plan their Web business, I attract an ever growing flow of traffic to my Web site.

My visitors get what they want. I make sure of that! I monetize the traffic that I attract with my Web site content. Therefore, I get what I want. It’s the give and take of sound business. It must be a “win-win” proposition, otherwise it cannot work.

“Infopreneurs” mostly risk their time. No significant investment, no inventory, near negligible operating costs. With proper planning and guidance, they reduce the risk of doing business to … next to nothing!
